Troy Police Department investigation has lead to the filing of charges on a Jefferson County man
On March 24, the Troy Police Department Detective Bureau received a report from the Regional Computer Crime Education and Enforcement Group (RCCEEG) in Jefferson County. The report contained over 1,900 images of child pornography and over 200 video files containing child pornography. The files were found on a thumb drive at an apartment in High Ridge. The apartment had once been rented by 34 year old Jeremy Ray Hobbs.
Two of the images located on the thumb drive were of an unidentified white juvenile male. Exif data from the images place the photographs beginning taken within city limits of Troy on May 21, 2011. A relative of Hobbs was contacted and she identified the images being of her son and confirmed the photographs were taken at her residence in the 300 block of Monroe Street, Troy.
On April 2, Hobbs was taken into custody by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and he was later transported to Lincoln County. At the time of his arrest Hobbs was out on bond regarding charges of child molestation.
Hobbs was charged with Sexual Exploitation of a Minor Child and is being held without bond. The Honorable Judge Flynn cited “The Court finds there being multiple victims and furthers the public is at risk does not set bond pending further hearing.”
This is an ongoing investigation, the Troy Police Department is working in cooperation with the St. Charles County Cyber Crime Task Force.
The Troy Police Department believes Hobbs may have had other victims. If you or a family member has any information please contact the Troy Police Department Detective Bureau at 636-528-4725.
