Trojans sweep Hickman, drop two games to Timberland

Two steps forward, two steps back but progress is being made by the Troy Buchanan High baseball team.
On May 3, they swept a doubleheader over Columbia Hickman. They won 8-7 in nine innings/ Offensive stars included Collin Barton (3 hits, 2B), Devon Fuller, 3 RBIs, 2B). Hunter Martin was the winning pitcher with Fuller and JD Powell also seeing time on the mound.
They also won 5-4 over the Kewpies. Caleb Eisenbath had two hits and two RBIs with Barton also getting two hits. Brandon Bennett was the winning pitcher.
On May 7, Troy lost 5-4 to Wentzville Timberland. Troy grabbed a four run lead in the first but the Wolves rallied with three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth. Alex Sitler drove in two runs on a double. Also getting RBIs were Hunter Martin and Shane Ponder. Powell was charged with the loss.
On May 6, Troy hosted the Wolves and lost 7-2. Ponder drove in the two runs for Troy and Eisenbath had two hits for the Trojans. Callum Smith was charged with the loss.
The Trojans will complete their regular season this week and enter the district tournament May 17-21 at Timberland. The Trojans will play Washington at 11 a.m. on the 17th. If they win, they advance to a game May 19 at 1 p.m. vs. Timberland. Finals will be on May 21 at 4:15 p.m.
