Adele E. Gutermuth, 81, of Troy, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2014, at her home.

She was born on Aug. 2, 1932, in Ferma, Mo. Adele was the youngest of three children born to Charles and Frieda (Cooper) Mergenthal. She met the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Gutermuth at a dance on Thanksgiving evening. Eight months later, on July 10, 1954, the couple was joined in holy matrimony at Friedens United Church of Christ in St. Charles. They first lived in Ferma until moving to O’Fallon, in 1959. Adele was a loving wife and mother, taking exceptional care of her four growing sons.  During her spare time, she was always busy tending to her flowers, garden and canning the produce for her family. Knitting, crocheting and embroidering were some of her many talents. In 1980, the family decided to move to the Troy area to enjoy country living and all that it provided. Attending Zion United Church of Christ in Troy was very important to her.

Surviving are her beloved husband of almost 60 years, Bob Gutermuth, of Troy; her four sons: Robert and wife, Kathy Gutermuth, of Troy, Anthony and wife, Katrinna Gutermuth, of St. Charles, Charles Gutermuth, of Troy, Darrell and wife, Michele Gutermuth, of Troy; her 12 wonderful grandchildren: Amanda and husband, Steve Champion, Ashley and husband, Bobby Forsythe, Dustin and wife, Breanna Gutermuth, Bradley and wife, Kayla Gutermuth, Aaron Gutermuth, Anthony Gutermuth Jr., Corey Gutermuth, Brent Gutermuth, Nicholas Gutermuth, Justen Gutermuth, Alexander Gutermuth, Meradith Gutermuth and six adoring great-grandchildren: Colin, Audrey, Kaysen, Kamey, McKenzie and Hailey.

Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral Home & Cremation Ctr, 1304 Boone St., Troy.

Funeral service will bs held for 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, also at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral Home & Cremation Ctr, Troy. Pastor Laura Mignerone from Zion United Church of Christ will officiate.

Interment will be in St. Charles Memorial Gardens in St. Charles.

Ralph “Jerry” Hughes, 77, of Moscow Mills, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at his residence.

He was born on July 30, 1936, in St. Louis to Ralph E. and Ruby I. (Beckett) Hughes. Jerry was an only child and was dearly loved by his adoring parents.

After his formal schooling, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving from March 19, 1954 until July 26, 1957. Upon his return home from the military, he met his future wife, Dorothy “Dot” Kramer. A short time later, they were united in holy matrimony on Sept. 23, 1961, in St. Louis. They moved to Hazelwood and later bought their first home in St. Louis County. To this union were born three children: Jim, Brenda and Julie.

Jerry was self-employed and owned J & R Decorating along with his parents in Overland.

The family later relocated to the Moscow Mills area so they could enjoy country living. In his younger days, Jerry enjoyed tournament bass fishing and his son, Jim, got to go along on their many trips. Hunting and fishing and being outdoors were some of his pastimes when not working. The family liked to go camping and take vacations at Bull Shoals Lake. Watching shows like the History and Discovery channels on T.V. was also enjoyable for Jerry.

Surviving are his beloved wife of over 52 years, Dot Hughes, of Moscow Mills; his son, Jim and wife, Cindy Hughes and his daughter, Brenda Hughes and Neil Wobbe in St. Charles; his two adoring grandchildren: Lindsey (Brian) and Courtney (Robert) and his great grandson: Austin.

Visitation will be held  Monday, June 9, 2014 from 3-8 p.m. at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral & Cremation Ctr, 1304 Boone St., Troy, Mo. 63379.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at St. Stephen United Methodist Church in Troy. Officiating will be Rev. Steve Pinnell. Interment will be  held at Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens in St. Louis.

Memorials may be made to St. Stephen United Methodist Church or to the American Cancer Society, c/o the funeral home.

Jerome M. Scholand, 61, of Troy, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at his residence.

He was born on June 14, 1952, in Reynolds, N.D. to Joseph and Clare (Linnemann) Scholand.

Jerome enlisted in the U.S. Army shortly after graduation from high school. He married Kris Struckmann while serving in the military. Jerome was always a good provider and for many years worked two jobs.. Jerome loved fishing and watching the History and Discovery channels. He later moved to St. Peters because of his work. Jerome married Melissa Wooldridge on May 7, 1999 in St. Charles.

He worked as a concrete laborer during the day and in the evenings, he was a CNA.

Surviving are his wife, Melissa Scholand, of Troy; his children: Aaron Scholand, Luke Scholand, Claire Trim, John Scholand, Beth Gresco and his step-daughter, Jessica Devila. He is further survived by his mother, Clare Scholand; his seven grandchildren: Jayden, Nick, Jaxon, Miles, John, Lawson, Gage; and his six siblings: Theresa, Mary, Donnie, Paul, Dorothy and Collette; other relatives and friends.
