Ham, Hufty join Silex High School boys’ coaching staff
A new face and a familiar face have been hired to fill coaching openings at Silex High School.
Chad Twellman resigned in the spring as basketball, baseball coach and activities’ director to take boys basketball and activities director at Elsberry.
Last week, Silex administration announced the positions were filled as Braden Ham will be the basketball coach, and Kent Hufty will be the activities director and baseball coach.
Hufty is a retired teacher and administrator and resides in the Silex area. He brings experience and familiarity to the program.
Ham is a native of Neosho and he has previously had positions with Excelsior Springs and Webb City. He holds a bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the University of Central Missouri.
He met with the returning players and is looking forward to his first varsity head coaching position.
“I believe this is a great opportunity professionally, and the Silex community has a reputation for quality is strong,” he said. “As far as coaching, I want my teams to be noted for hard work and dedication and be good examples in their community,” said Ham. “I look forward to getting to know the players and community better.”
