For over a year now the Winfield area has been waiting to see the finished product of the Intermediate School renovations. On Tuesday, August 12, the Intermediate School held a Back to School Night where parents and students were able to walk the new halls, view the new technology inside the classroom and enjoy the new layout of the front entryway along with meeting the teachers and staff of the building. Natalie DeWeese, Intermediate principal spoke saying this, “It is a great day to be a Warrior as we unveil the amazing renovations that have been taking place this summer. I know that when you see the result you will have a whole new sense of pride for our school. Your amazing teachers have worked triple overtime the last few days to make things perfect and they are looking forward to meeting you and having your children in their class.”

Teachers and staff were welcomed back into the school just before classes to get everything ready for the students. For many, it was the first time they saw the changes and for others, they have been watching it unfold all summer. Either way, everyone seemed to be impressed by the “new” Intermediate Building.

“It’s a complete night and day difference from last year,” Mrs. Casey Bromwich, a fourth grade teacher said. “The kids will be really excited to see all the new things we have now and how put together everything is. We even have more freedom within the classroom since we don’t have tables to sit at anymore, we have desks that we can move around!”

From the outside exterior to the tile in the bathroom, the kids, parents, faculty and staff will feel like it’s a brand new building.

Mrs. Kara Petty, third grade teacher, spoke about the changes saying, “They are amazing. It’s completely different from even the last two years. We have new white boards, large windows, and shelving that we didn’t even know we were getting. It’s very exciting for us all.”

“The teachers and the kids will now be able to put all their focus on the work at hand instead of the problems with the building,” Mrs. Anya Toler, art teacher, commented. “It exceeded my expectations! I hope that it also teaches the children responsibility to keep the building nice.”

There will be an open house where the public can visit the Intermediate building on August 19 from 5 – 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome to check out the renovations.
