Mark your calendars for Hawk Point Heritage Day on Sunday, September 9, 2012. Since Heritage Day inception people come from miles around to enjoy the delicious fried chicken dinner which includes homemade pies and cakes. Eat in the cool dining room at the VFW Hall or take a carry-out home with you. This event has truly put Hawk Point on the map.

A non-denominational church service begins at 10 a.m. in the park. Enjoy hymns of praise as well as a sermon presented by Carla Fletcher from the Hawk Point Community Church. Communion will be available.

A Variety Show will be held at 11:30 featuring many types of talent. If you’d like to perform for an audience with your special talent such as singing, instrumental, oral interpretation, dance, twirling, choirs, and comedy acts, be sure to contact Glenda Fitzgerald at 528-6507. Groups and individuals are welcome. A keyboard will be available.

With this an election year we are inviting the candidates to a political forum at noon. If you would like an opportunity to express your platform, please contact Glenda Fitzgerald for more details at (636) 528-6507.

Stroll in the park visiting the craft booths, see the quilt display, hear the TBHS Jazz Band at 1 p.m., enjoy the kids’ games at 2 p.m., or just sit and listen to the Fiddlers’ Contest at 2 p.m. Enjoy dancing with Frankie Stanek and the Country Limits following the Fiddlers’ Contest.
