Some people we can’t live without

My wedding is next year. Be prepared to read a few columns about this exciting time in my life as I update you (my readers) on the progress of the wedding plans. First off, many people we encounter criticize us for having such a long engagement. I know October 2013 seems a ways away, but Ashley (my fiancée) is finishing college.

Ashley is working during the day and going to school at night. Between homework and work, there’s hardly time to prepare for a wedding. I say, “prepare” for a wedding because Ashley has already “planned” for the wedding while working and going to school. She is definitely on top of the game. I can’t take any credit. She has booked the photographer, the DJ, the church, the hall, caters and is now working on choosing the cake, (which I’m hoping to be a part of…I don’t care what she chooses, I just want to taste test the cakes.)

Ashley has also found her dress and her bridesmaid dresses after visiting bridal shops in a hundred mile radius. She is a working machine and I love her for that. Many of you know why I love her for that. I’m a guy who “goes with the flow”. I’d be way behind the game if the wedding plans were up to me. She’s definitely my better half and my number one cheerleader. I’m patiently (patience is a tough attribute for me) waiting to marry my best friend. She’s someone I don’t want to live without.

Take a second and think of one person you can’t live without. What has that person meant to you? Have you told them lately? I know everyone has that certain someone, so make sure they know how much they mean to you. Whoever it may be, don’t let them feel unappreciated because you don’t show emotions. Pick up the phone, email or simply open up your arms.

If they don’t know how much they mean to you, it’s time to show them you care. Some people we can’t live without.
