Lincoln County Prosecuting Attorney Leah W. Askey announced that Zacheriah Cain, 18,  of Warrenton, has plead guilty  and was sentenced for an incident that killed a Lincoln County couple, Vic and Virginia Harrell, in May 2011.

Cain was charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter in the first degree  and received the maximum sentence on each count  to be run consecutively for a total of 14 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.

The charges arose when Cain’s vehicle collided with the Harrells’ ATV on Brevator Road near Moscow Mills. Cain was traveling at a high rate of speed and was under the influence of alcohol.

“Cases like this are never easy,” said Askey. “Two innocent people lost their lives as a result of a sixteen year old’s decision he made on that fateful day last May. I know the last year and a half has been very difficult for the Harrell family. I hope the disposition of this case can bring some closure for the family.”

This case was prosecuted by Askey and was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Cain appeared before Judge Dan Dildine.
