Charges filed on three subjects, two for sexual offenses, one child abuse
Lincoln County Prosecuting Attorney Leah W. Askey during recent days has filed sexual related charges on two subjects and another for child abuse stemming from different incidents.
On Sept. 21, 2012, Jacob Samuel Whitchurch, 24, of Silex, was charged with enticement of a child and failure to register as a sex offender. The case was investigated by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department
Whitchurch, convicted seven years ago of a sex act, is now allegedly accused of soliciting the same girl through Facebook. The mother of the girl contacted authorities on Sept. 17 when she discovered the Facebook messages between Whitchurch and her daughter. The messages asked the girl if she remembered the previous sexual contact.
Whitchurch was taken to the Lincoln County Jail. His bond was set at $50,000 (cash only). Troy Police are also investigating Whitchurch on another alleged incident.
Following an investigation by the Troy Police Department, Thomas Michael Crossno, 51, of Elsberry, has been charged with sexual misconduct or attempt involving a child less than 15 years of age (class D felony). This was filed Sept. 26. The charges arise out of an incident on Aug. 6, 2012, when the defendant allegedly exposed himself, according to several witnesses, in the presence of several children at the Troy Aquatic Center.
A Lincoln County grand jury found cause for the prosecuting attorney’s office to file first degree assault and two counts of child abuse against Michael Floyd, 55, of Troy.
Those charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
