Coats for the Cold collection begins

The annual Salvation Army Coats for the Cold campaign is underway. With winter just around the corner, now is the time to sort through your closets for any clean, gently used jackets, coats, hats and gloves that can be donated to the Lincoln County unit of The Salvation Army. Barrels have been placed at Asbury Methodist Church – Foley, Bank of Old Monroe – Moscow Mills, St. Alphonsus Catholic Church – Millwood and the following locations in Troy:  First Assembly of God Church, Harvester Christian Church, Peoples Bank & Trust – (Troy, Elsberry & Winfield), St. Steven United Methodist Church, Trinity Lutheran Church, Zadocks, Kroger, Troy Bible Holiness Church and Imo’s Pizza.

“Thanks to the generosity of Store It & Go we have a space to store and sort the collections. Having that step finished prior to the distribution date will be a huge advantage to our clients” states Vera Weltmer, Co-chair. Harvester Christian Church, 43 Front St., Troy is making their facility available for distribution on October 27. Coats will be made available to local clothes closets and Lincoln County Council on Aging for distribution as well.

Over 300 coats in all sizes, styles and colors were collected and distributed last year. If you would care to make a monetary donation for this campaign please make your check payable to The Salvation Army – Lincoln County Unit. Any questions regarding donations or Coats for the Cold please call Russ or Vera Weltmer at 636-528-7901 or Phyllis Cross at 636-462-2458.
