David Husmann

David B. Husmann, 78, of Troy, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy.

He was born on Sept. 15, 1934, the oldest child born to Edwin and Dorothy (Markus) Husmann. David grew up with his four siblings: Marvin, James, Dan and Kay. The family lived in St. Ann. Before joining the U.S. Marines, he had worked for the McDonnell-Douglas Corp. in St. Louis. After his service in the U.S. Marines, he returned to McDonnell-Douglas Corp, retiring after 41 years of devoted service.

David met his future wife, Claire LaConte and were married on June 20, 1959, in Overland. To this union were born two daughters: Julia and Joyce. The Husmanns lived in Florissant for 37 years before moving to Lincoln County. For many years, they had a club house in Foley. They had a home built in Troy and they became members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. David volunteered to help with the St. Vincent DePaul food pantry, serve as a usher and on the parrish council, and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and the men’s club. He was an expert rifleman in service and continued to be a member of the 1st Marine Division in Florissant. David liked to do woodworking projects and made rocking horses for his family and church auction. He was an avid bowler and on Friday, March 13, 1987, he bowled a perfect 300 game.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 53 years, Claire Husmann of Troy; his two daughters: Julia LaRue, of St. Peters, Joyce and husband, Randy Crump, of Wentzville; his three grandchildren: Jesse and wife, Jessica LaRue, Nicholas Crump and Jilliann Crump. He is further survived by his four siblings: Marvin and wife, Helen Husmann of Union, James and wife, Gail Husmann of South St. Louis County, Dan and wife Jan Husmann of Alamosa, Colo. and Kay and husband, Bud Gammon of Winfield; other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral & Cremation Center, 1304 Boone St., Troy.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Troy. Officiating: Fr. Tom Wissler. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery, Jefferson Barracks.
