Road work scheduled to improve Rt. 47 between Troy, Winfield

Weather permitting, Monday, October 8, MoDOT and its contractor will begin milling operations on MO 47 at various locations from Troy to Winfield to prepare for an overlay of the existing pavement surface within the next several weeks.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane, and the speed limit reduced to 45 m.p.h. in the work zone with flaggers controlling traffic. Crews and equipment will be working close to traffic in the work zone, please use extra caution while traveling through these areas. Motorists may encounter uneven pavement during construction with equipment frequently entering and exiting the work zone. Delays should be expected, motorists are urged to use alternate routes if possible. All lanes will be open to traffic at the end of each workday.

Weather permitting, beginning October 10, crews will begin working on shoulder improvements, with work between Troy and Route W required to be conducted from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. to avoid the beginning and ending of the school day and morning commute. Resurfacing work should begin the week of October 15 with crews working at night between Troy and Route W from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.; from Route W to Route 79, the contractor will cease operations to avoid the busy commuting period from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. During resurfacing, pilot cars will be used to help guide traffic through the active work zone.

The job consists of resurfacing the travel lanes and paving shoulders from just east of US 61 at Troy to MO 79 near Winfield. The was awarded to G & M Concrete & Asphalt Co., Inc. of Troy, Missouri at $1,549,495.88. This work is expected to be completed by mid-November.
