Neubauer sentenced for statutory sodomy
Lincoln County Prosecuting Attorney Leah Askey announced Oct. 2, 2012, that Charles Neubauer, 39, of Foley, , was sentenced in the Circuit Court of Lincoln County by the Honorable Dan Dildine for two counts of Statutory Sodomy in the First Degree and one count of Statutory Sodomy in the Second Degree. Neubauer received a 15- year sentence on each of the Statutory Sodomy First charges, to run concurrently, and seven years on the Second Degree Sodomy charge, also to run concurrently.
The charges arose out of events occurring as far back as 2007 and as recently as 2011. The victim and his family traveled from the State of Indiana to be present for the defendant’s earlier plea of guilty and for sentencing that day.
“The courage and perseverance of the victim led to the successful prosecution of this case. He saw it through and traveled to ensure justice was served. Hopefully, he will be able to move on with his life and put this traumatic experience behind him, “said case attorney, First Assistant PA, George Gundy.
“I am pleased with the sentence Judge Dildine imposed in this case, despite the defendant’s plea for probation. It is difficult to say what “justice” should be in a case like this. Anytime a child is involved, I am always hopeful for as much time as the Court will allow.” Askey said.
This case was prosecuted by Gundy with the assistance of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department, including Det. Patrick Harney, who was the lead investigator.
