Moscow Mills man dies from injuries in accident

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a Moscow Mills man died from injuries suffered in an accident Sunday in Warren County.

The man, Rex Laney, 50, was pronounced at the scene by Warren County Coroner Roger Mauzey.

The accident occurred on Hwy 47 north of South Bend Road at 6:20 p.m.

According to the statement, a 1997 Cadillac Eldorado driven by Mark Laney, 31, of Warrenton, was southbound on Rt. 47 when he failed to negotiate a curve to the right in the roadway. The vehicle traveled over the centerline, off the left side and overturned, ejecting Rex Laney from the vehicle.

Mark Laney was taken to St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake Saint Louis. His injuries were listed as moderate. Neither were using a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Area residents were injured in area accidents, according to reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

One accident occurred Oct. 20 in Warren County at Route O north of Devils Boot. Time of the accident was 4:27 p.m. The Patrol said a 2003 Astro van driven by Jack Maxam, 72, of Winfield, was stopped in traffic when the front of a 2012 GMC Acadia driven by William Laspas, 61, of Wright City, struck the rear of Maxam’s van.

Maxam was taken by Marthasville EMS to Mercy Hospital in Washington for treatment of minor injuries. Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.

In a separate accident, Ronald Davis, 44, of Winfield, sustained minor injuries Oct. 20 at 6:45 p.m. on Route EE, just north of Hwy. 47. According to the report, Davis was walking partially in the roadway when he was struck by a 1996 GMC Safari van driven by Pamela Sherwood, 43, of Winfield.  Davis was taken by county ambulance to St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake Saint Louis.  Sherwood was in a seat belt at the time of the accident.

On Oct. 22 at 12:01 a.m., Jason Ramsour, 37, of Troy, was injured when  his 2002 Chevy Silverado was eastbound on Route V, traveled off the left side of the roadway and overturned.  He was transported by a Missouri State Highway trooper to the Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy. Ramsour was not wearing a seat belt at the time of his accident.
