7th Annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot 5K

The Troy Community Concert Band is holding its 7th Annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot 5K Fun/Run Walk. The event starts and ends in Troy’s Fairgrounds (City) Park. Pre-registration lasts through Saturday, Nov. 17 (Food items are brought to the event on the Thanksgiving Day please.) Participants should be in the park no later than 7:45 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning.

The Turkey Trot is the primary, yearly fundraiser for the Community Concert Band with the majority of the funds raised to go towards the Band’s summertime Concert in the Park series which brings a variety of live, musical acts to the City Park free of charge. The Trot also helps the Bread for Life Food Pantry as each pre-registered participant makes a donation of food items to fill the Pantry’s shelves and help those in need in this community.

This family-oriented event has become a tradition for many in our community as they start their holiday off with a walk or run through primarily residential neighborhoods of Troy. It certainly helps justify eating that extra piece of pie, which is bound to happen!

There are pre-event festivities including a Gobble Wobble, quarter mile sprint through the park, for kids pre-K through 5th grade. The only entry fee is a donation of four jars of baby food to the Food Pantry. All finishers receive a prize.

The band also awards pre-race prizes for some especially unique participants including: Biggest Turkey (aka Most Festively Dressed), Farthest Flown (farthest from home, pre-registered participant), Largest Flock (biggest group that pre-registers together at the same time), and Ageless Wonder (oldest, pre-registered participant).

Trophies are awarded for 1st/2nd/3rd place male and female finishers at the end of the race.

Continental style breakfast items are available for participants to enjoy.
