Mrs. Dorothy (Joyner) Lindsey, 87 of Winfield, passed away on Wednesday Oct 31, 2012.

Dorothy was born on May 15, 1925 in Frostproof, Fla. to Larry and Gladys (Jewel) Joyner. Dorothy grew up with three brothers and one sister and family was always important to her. She attended the local schools and graduated from Frostproof High School. Dorothy met George Lindsey in Florida while he was serving in the Army. They were later married on July 13, 1946 in Statesboro, GA. Dorothy and George were blessed with five children, Ginger, Jack, Rex, Debbie and Frank.

She is survived by her children:  three sons, Jack Lindsey, of Troy, Rex Lindsey, of Winfield, Frank Lindsey, of Hawk Point and two daughters Ginger Rinehart and husband, Joe, of O’ Fallon, and Debbie Eisenbath and husband, Paul, of Troy; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two brothers, Bruce Joyner of Charlotte, N.C. and Ray Joyner and wife, Patsy,  of Frostproof, Fla. , many other relatives and friends .

Visitation was held Friday Nov 2, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. at McCoy and Blossom Funeral Home 1304 Boone Street Troy.

Albert Strickland Jr.

Funeral services for Albert Franklin “Frank” Strickland, Jr., 61, of Old Monroe, were held at 2  p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at Corinth Christian Church in Foley.  Rev. Scott Groshong, church pastor, officiated with burial in Corinth Cemetery.

Mr. Strickland, 61, passed away late Thursday night, Nov. 1, 2012, at Benchmark Healthcare in St. Charles.

Born Jan. 13, 1951 in St. Louis, he was the son of Albert Franklin and Doris Marie Mansker Strickland, Sr.  He was united in marriage on April 25, 1970 in O’Fallon, to Carol Jean Nelson.  This union was blessed with four children: Kari Ann, Christopher Lee, Becky Jean and Jesse Grant.

He worked as a welder for American Iron and Steel in St. Louis for 26 years.  Mr. Strickland was a member of the Corinth Christian Church.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 42 years, Carol Strickland, of Old Monroe; four children: Kari Ann West and her husband, Jeffrey, of San Antonio, Texas, Christopher Strickland and his wife, Jennifer, of Barnett, Mo., Becky Howard of Old Monroe and Jesse Strickland of Houston, Texas; and twelve grandchildren: Emily Jeanne West, Alyssa Nicole West, Rachel Michelle West, Jessica Lee West, Erin Elizabeth West, Meladee Reneé Strickland, Alexxander Thomas Strickland, Weslee Elijah Strickland, Kylee Jeanne Howard, Brennan Nathaniel Howard, Jaycee Rebekah Howard and Logan Matthew Vance.  He also leaves his mother, Doris Strickland of O’Fallon; mother-in-law, Selma Nelson, of Bolivar, ; two sisters: Brenda Talley and her husband, Bill, of Wright City, and Dottie Bassinger and her husband, Dean, of Sullivan; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
