Hobbs found guilty in federal court

Clifford Keith Hobbs, 48, Silex, was found guilty of one felony count of attempt to persuade or coerce a minor to engage in sexual activity.  The three-day trial was held before United States District Judge Audrey G. Fleissig.

This charge carries a penalty range of ten years to life in prison and/or fines up to $250,000. In determining the actual sentences, a judge is required to consider the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines, which provide recommended sentencing ranges. Sentencing has been set for Feb. 14, 2013.

This case was investigated by theFBI, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, St. Charles County Cyber Crime Unit and the Troy Police Department.   Assistant United States Attorney Rob Livergood prosecuted the case.
