On Thursday, Oct. 25, Silex area Ameren Missouri customers were hit with a power surge at approximately 5:20 p.m. that damaged appliances and equipment. Earlier in the day, AmerenMissouri employees were working on a pole located on Highway E east of Central Elevator, Incorporated. The North West Fire Department was called because of a fire at the pole and Fire Department personnel placed a 911 call to get Ameren back to the scene. Power in the area went off several times before 3 p.m.
Channel 2 news sent a reporter and featured a segment on the Friday, November 9 at 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. news about the problem. Business owners and residents had been notified that day by a third party, Corporate Claims Management, Inc., had it had been determined that the incident was weather related and therefore, denying any claims.
Businesses or residents affected by the power surge may put their name on a list at Central Elevator, Inc. or Silex Banking Company.
