Veterans Day should be honored, revered by all
I had the privilege to witness two Veterans Day events- one which veterans were honored at New Horizons High School. The other was on Sunday at the Lincoln County Courthouse where veterans honored their comrades who sacrificed their lives for us to be free.
Both were necessary and motivating. I think the students get a deeper understanding of how important the role of our servicemen and women have played or still play in our national defense today. I know I do. The moving country song “Arlington” brought some of us to tears. I have been to Arlington and can attest to the rich tradition of that unique observance.
The service at the courthouse is always special with the laying of the wreaths and the motivational remarks. There is a bond among those who served in the military that is special and can never be felt for those who did not serve. I see and feel it at the Veterans Coffee Talk. Money can’t buy it.
