Troy Elks Lodge #2805 will be hosting its annual Hoop Shoot Contest for boys and girls ages 8 through 13 on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at the Claude Brown Intermediate Gymnasium. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. with the competition starting at 10 a.m.
The Hoop Shoot is a free-throw shooting contest with contestants shooting a total of 25 free throws behind the regulation foul line. Age groups 8 – 9 will shoot four feet in front of the foul line. There are six age groups in the competition determined by age as of April 1, 2013:
Boys age 8 – 9
Girls age 8 – 9
Boys age 10 – 11
Girls age 10 – 11
Boys age 12 – 13
Girls age 12 – 13
Contestants must bring a birth certificate or passport for age verification.
Winners will advance to the district, state, regional and national competitions.
