Twenty (20) area teams competed for the chance to advanced to the Regional State Finals. Saint Charles Community College has their own team 8090 named the Robotronix’s Gearheads which is comprised of six students. Mr. Jack Bilow is the lead coach for the SCC “First Lego League” Team. Kent Allsberry, of Troy,  is the caption of the team and serves as a Lego Mindstorm assembler and programer. SCC Robotronix Team was selected to advanced to the FLL Missouri Regional Championship Tournament at St. Louis Community College Florissant Valley on December 9, 2012. The team also received the FLL Robot Design Award. This year’s topic focused on Senior Solutions. The team focused on how robots can help the elderly and disabled.

FLL is known around the globe not only for what they do (the Robot Game and Project), but also how they  do it, with Core Values at the heart. Official tournaments must follow the judging and awards structure determined by FLL. Although the audience mostly sees teams playing the Robot Game at tournaments, teams are also being judged on Core Values, Project, and Robot Design.

The FLL team was sponsored by The Allsberry Law Firm, Coose Title L.L.C., River City Robots and Elliott Flooring.
