Aubuchon nets 1,000th point
A Winfield Warrior attained a plateau that only a few players ever attain in the their high school career.

Aaron Aubuchon scored 13 points Tuesday night which helped him reach the 1000th point milestone in the Warriors’ 63-50 loss to St. Charles. He also had six rebounds and seven assists.
“Aaron has played 89 career games at Winfield, starting 81 of them I believe,” said Coach Chuck Arnold. “He has been an integral part of our success the last three years. He personifies of what you want a student-athlete to be in high school. I have been fortunate enough to see all them, and be a part of it.”
Through seven games, Aubuchon is averaging 12.7 points per game and leads in assists (33) and deflections (21).
David Bauer led Winfield with 17 points and Joel Krato finished with 15 points. Travis Sommerlad had six rebounds. Through seven games, Bauer is averaging just under 16 points per game.
Neither team could find the bucket in the opening quarter, scoring four points each. The Pirates finally found the range in the second period, racing to a 17-6 edge in scoring enroute to a 21-10 lead at the half. The teams played nearly on even terms in the second half with the Pirates holding a straight edge (42-40) in scoring.
In a game played Dec. 7, Bauer scored 24 points in a 54-46 win over Orchard Farm. Krato followed with 11 points. Krato also led on the boards with five rebounds. Bauer had four steals and five deflections. Aubuchon was the leader in assists (6).
The teams were tied (15-15) at the half but the Warriors pulled away in the third period with an 18-9 edge. The Eagles made a run in the final period, outscoring the Warriors (22-21).
