Toss aside your coats and hats and step into the tropics at the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House’s annual beach-themed event Hot! Hot! Hot! Families can take a “cruise” through the Butterfly House and bask in the 85 degree temperature of the 8,000 square-foot conservatory. Hundreds of butterflies, lush tropical plants and waterfalls transport visitors from Missouri to the tropics.
Guests will be greeted with tropical smoothies and a steel drummer. Children can play in an indoor sandbox and play a game of pineapple bowling. Families can even bring home a keepsake from their “trip” with a tropical themed photo from an on-site photobooth. Face painting and butterfly-themed crafts will also be available for the two-day event.
Hot! Hot! Hot! will give visitors a chance to see the updated Butterfly House which will be closed January 1-25 for maintenance and renovations. The Lucy Lopata Learning Lab will be remodeled to better accommodate classes, birthday parties and special events. New lighting, including solar tubes, will bring sunlight to the indoor classroom which will also have new carpet, flooring, cabinets and an updated color scheme.
