Area players named EMO all-conference in softball

The East Missouri Conference has released the names of players who achieved all-conference status in softball this season. Area players named to the team included: First Team: Ashley Brown, senior, infield, Silex; Sabrina Stewart, outfield, junior; Katie McCrory, utility, sophomore; and Tanner Bencomo, utility, senior. Second Team: Kaitlyn Reed, sophomore, Clopton; Sabrina Pruitt, senior, Elsberry; Leah Miller, senior, Silex and Rachel Lipsey, junior, Silex. Bowling Green won the regular season

  • IndianHawks hold off Indians; Troy, Winfield fall on the gridiron

    The Clopton/Elsberry IndianHawks pulled off a nail-biter of a victory on Oct. 10 against the Van-Far Indians. The game began with an 85-yard kick return that resulted in a touchdown for IndianHawk senior Collin Dugan.     Two straight shutouts lifted the Silex Lady Owls to a district title in the Class 1 district held at Community. In the semi-finals, they eliminated Van-Far with a 10-0 win in five innings. Melanie Miller got the win. She gave up only one hit, issuing no walks, and struck out seven. She struck out six of the first eight batters.
