Warriors lose, gain tie with Elsberry

Winfield Warriors have played two soccer games last week. On Tuesday, the Warriors faced off against Warrenton and lost 5-0. The Warriors then took it upon themselves to bounce back and be ready for a tough game under the lights against Elsberry at home. The Warriors played a great game against Elsberry  that eventually ended in a tie as part of the Warrior Classic Tournament.

    Troy Buchanan High will sponsor its invitational volleyball tournament Sept. 27 in the high school gym. Teams competing will be: Purple Division: Troy Buchanan, St. Charles, Whitfield, Oakville, St. Charles. Gold Division: Fort Zumwalt West, St. Charles West, Hannibal, Columbia Rock Bridge.   • Elsberry softball gets first win, soccer report

    Elsberry softball lost 10-0 loss to North Callaway on the road on Sept. 11. “Sabrina Pruitt once again pitched a gem,” said Head Coach Chad Twellman. “We were great through five innings. We trailed 1-0 thanks to a two-out error. We got through the fifth and the wheels fell off the cart.” That 10-0 loss didn’t dampen the spirits of the Lady Indians.     Silex defeated Louisianan 4-3 in high school softball. Melanie Miller was the winning pitcher and had  three strikeouts.   • Trojans fourth in area in rankings, bats alive in recent winning streak

    Christa Reisinger has been among the leaders offensively for Troy, driving in nine runs in a recent win.

    Troy Buchanan Trojans continue their winning ways in softball, posting three consecutive wins. On Sept. 11, they defeated Francis Howell Central 14-3 in six innings, pushing across 10 runs in the last two innings. Kylie Thwing had three hits in the game.     Francis Howell Central spoiled Homecoming for Troy Buchanan as they posted a 36-14 win Saturday while Winfield fell behind early in a 67-36 loss to St. Charles West.
