Lady Warriors achieve several goals, falls short in district loss to Crusaders

The regular season ended with a bang as the Winfield Lady Warriors defeated the Barat Academy Eagles in two games 25-18, 25-21.     Clopton High School hosted their annual Cross-Country Hamburger Meet on Oct. 13. In the varsity runs the mud flew as boys and girls churned through the 5K. Elsberry’s Jack Weakly finished in 13th place with a time of 20:23. He was followed by Daniel Johnson in 30th place with a time of 21:45 and Austin King in 44th place with a time of 23:08.     The Silex Lady Owls hosted two state tournament games in softball, coming out with a split. Thus, their season came to an end.     Some parts of Missouri will have more deer this year, and a bumper crop of corn will affect hunting strategies.     The Clopton/Elsberry IndianHawks pulled off a nail-biter of a victory on Oct. 10 against the Van-Far Indians.     Two straight shutouts lifted the Silex Lady Owls to a district title in the Class 1 district held at Community. In the semi-finals, they eliminated Van-Far with a 10-0 win in five innings.
