Hartwig, Troy boys place firsts in invitational

The former Royal Oaks Golf Course in Troy was the site of the annual Trojan Invitational Cross Country Meet. In the boys’ varsity division, Fort Zumwalt West came in first led by Tristan Baze who placed first overall. His time was 17:51. Troy Buchanan placed second. Their runners and overall times included: David Hill (17:56), Dan Meyers (17:58), Brandon Hutchinson (18:20), Joel Talley (18:51.8), Tyler Boulware (19:03.2), Dann Kimmel (19:50.9)

    Troy Buchanan High Soccer Trojans have been involved in several games. They lost 6-0 to Francis Howell. The Vikings scored four goals on Jeremy McKenna and two on Cole Jost. The duo made a total of nine saves. Troy defeated Trinity 8-2 in an exciting game. Josh Phillips had four goals including the game winner to lead Troy. Also scoring were Marco Gonzales, Tyler Lewis, Antonio Torres and Max Zimmer.

  • County football teams on short end of lopsided conference games

    All three Lincoln County football teams lost lop-sided games Sept. 19 to opponents in conference games. The Winfield Warriors lost 61-28 in a Gateway Athletic Conference North Division encounter. The Eagles’ Tyler Westerfeld threw for three TDs, completing seven of nine passes for 138 yards. He rushed for 55 yards. This all came in the first half as the Eagles moved out to a 54-14 lead by halftime. Armand Keely

  • Lady Warriors gain wins

    Winfield Warriors Varsity defeated Lutheran St. Charles recently 11-1 in five innings. Winfield scored five runs in the third on a bases loaded walk by Peyton Ward, a wild pitch, and a three-run home run by Jaylynn Goff. Annie Rhoades had three strikeouts in the Lady Warriors’ win.   • Soccer Indians play well, injuries hurt Lady Indians

    Elsberry Varsity Soccer Team competed in the 2014 Warrior Classic Tournament in Winfield. Their first game against Winfield ended in a 0-0 tie. Elsberry then advanced in the tournament to face Father Tolton. “That game was a little bit of a let down, but we still played well,” said Elsberry Coach Dustin Robinson.   • Warriors lose, gain tie with Elsberry

    Winfield Warriors have played two soccer games last week. On Tuesday, the Warriors faced off against Warrenton and lost 5-0. The Warriors then took it upon themselves to bounce back and be ready for a tough game under the lights against Elsberry at home. The Warriors played a great game against Elsberry  that eventually ended in a tie as part of the Warrior Classic Tournament.

    Elsberry softball lost 10-0 loss to North Callaway on the road on Sept. 11. “Sabrina Pruitt once again pitched a gem,” said Head Coach Chad Twellman. “We were great through five innings.
