The baseball and soccer seasons came to a close for Troy Buchanan and Winfield last week with losses in district competition. In baseball, Winfield lost a narrow 4-3 game to St. Charles at St. Charles West. The Pirates pushed across two runs in the fifth inning which proved to be the difference. Zach Ham led Winfield, going 3 for 3 and had two RBIs. Chandler Hollingsworth had the other RBI.

Jacob Williams, a junior at Troy Buchanan, is the GAC South Division Player of the year in golf. Coach Myron Daw said about 60 percent of the individual conference points are awarded at each of the regular season dual matches played against each school and the other 40 percent at the GAC Conference Tournament.
