Penny’s Podcast earns state award

The Missouri School Public Relations Association recognized “Penny’s Podcast: On the road again” for excellence in communications. The May 19 “On the Road” edition of R-III Superintendent Mark Penny’s podcast received an Award of Excellence in the category of audiovisual over 10 minutes. Recognition took place at the annual MOSPRA Fall Conference held in Kansas City, November 6-7.   • Winfield honors Veterans, receives a flag from Afghanistan from Staff Sergeant Kyser

    Pictured at left Staff Sergeant Kristie Kyser holding the flag that flew over her base. The flag traveled from Kandahar, Afghanistan to Louisiana, to St. Louis and to Winfield Middle School. The reunion video of Staff Sergeant Kyser and her daughters has received more than 15,000 views. Pictured above, the teachers and staff read a poem and passed around the flag.

                    Annually on Veterans Day, Winfield Primary, Intermediate and Middle Schools all gather together to pay respect to all veterans who have served our country, those who are currently serving and those who are our future veterans.   • Free high school equivalency (GED) preparation classes

    There are only two registrations left in 2014 for HSE (formerly GED) preparation classes. The St. Charles Community College, Adult Education and Literacy program is offering these classes for FREE in Lincoln, Pike, Warren and St. Charles Counties. Classes are filling quickly.   • Lincoln County School Board meeting featured student presentations

    The monthly Lincoln County R-III school board meeting on October 21, featured presentations from teachers and students. The first was a video presentation on the implementation of Writer’s Workshop – Lucy Calkins Unit of Study and the impact that is having on student growth.
