First day of school, lunch prices decided at Lincoln County R-III board meeting

The Lincoln County R-III school district held its monthly school board meeting on March 17. The board tentatively approved the District Calendar for the 2015-2016 school year, with the first day of school falling on August 18. The board also approved a recommendation by Superintendant Mark Penny to set the school lunch prices for 2015-2016.   • Madison McLaughlin earns tuition-free scholarship from Columbia College

    Madison McLaughlin was surprised after receiving the Presidential Scholarship from Columbia College.

    Admission counselors from Columbia College situated in Columbia, Mo., visited Troy Buchanan High March 5 for a special announcement. They surprised senior Madison McLaughlin with the presentation of the Presidential Scholarship which awards her with free tuition to the college. This has a monetary value exceeding $83,700 (four years). She is one of only 10 seniors to achieve this honor. She was selected from the 66 students who applied. The

  • Elsberry saxophone quartet qualifies to perform at state competition in Columbia

    Fourteen Elsberry band members participated in the District Solo and Small Ensemble Festival on March 7. Students were adjudicated and earned high ratings based on their performances.   Ratings are as follows: 1=Exemplary, 2=Outstanding, 3=Satisfactory, 4=Developing and 5=Ineffective.   • Silex R-I kindergarten, preschool registration

    Kindergarten and Pre-school registration will be held on Wednesday, April 8 from 12 – 4 p.m. and on Thursday, April 9 from 2 – 6 p.m. in the Silex Elementary Office.
