Earns doctorate

There is a new ‘doctor’ in the house at Silex R-I School District. Elaine Henderson, current superintendent of schools, is now Dr. Henderson as she has successfully completed requirements. She earned a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) with an Emphasis in Leadership in Teaching and Learning through Missouri Baptist University. She also holds an Education Specialist (Ed.S) in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis University of Missouri; a Masters (M.Ed.) in Education

  • R-III Education Foundation hits “home” run in 2014

    Members of the Roger Krieg family and the Lincoln County R-III Education Foundation and R-III School District officially turned the key to their new home thanks to the generosity of a local family. The Roger Krieg family donated office space to the R-III Education Foundation to further lend their support to public education.

    The Lincoln County R-III Education Foundation and their volunteer Board of Directors have not only hit their stride in 2014, but hit a home run. The tax-deductible organization celebrated the year and accomplishments in supporting the students of the Lincoln County R-III District on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 with a Holiday Open House.   • Start the new year by getting your High School Equivalency credential

    The St. Charles Community College, Adult Education and Literacy program is offering FREE High School Equivalency preparation classes in St. Charles, Warren, Lincoln and Pike counties. The High School Equivalency (HSE), HiSet exams, replaced the GED© in January 2014. Preparation classes are offered in the mornings and evenings, Monday – Thursdays, depending on the location. Classes are held at Winfield High School, Pike Lincoln Technical Center in Eolia, Troy Probation

  • Winfield R-IV School Board reviews programs and district goals, approves new plans for maintenance building

    At the Nov. 18 Winfield School Board meeting the district presented their Smart Goals to the school board as well as their building goals. The principals of each building gave a detailed description on how they will meet the goals they have set as well as if they are on target to meet the goals presently.   • Penny’s Podcast earns state award

    The Missouri School Public Relations Association recognized “Penny’s Podcast: On the road again” for excellence in communications. The May 19 “On the Road” edition of R-III Superintendent Mark Penny’s podcast received an Award of Excellence in the category of audiovisual over 10 minutes. Recognition took place at the annual MOSPRA Fall Conference held in Kansas City, November 6-7.   • Winfield honors Veterans, receives a flag from Afghanistan from Staff Sergeant Kyser

    Pictured at left Staff Sergeant Kristie Kyser holding the flag that flew over her base. The flag traveled from Kandahar, Afghanistan to Louisiana, to St. Louis and to Winfield Middle School. The reunion video of Staff Sergeant Kyser and her daughters has received more than 15,000 views. Pictured above, the teachers and staff read a poem and passed around the flag.

                    Annually on Veterans Day, Winfield Primary, Intermediate and Middle Schools all gather together to pay respect to all veterans who have served our country, those who are currently serving and those who are our future veterans.
