High School Equivalency prep classes

St. Charles Community College will hold registration for High School Equivalency preparation classes in Eolia on Monday and Wednesday, September 22 and 24, 2014. This orientation/registration session will be held at Pike Lincoln Technical Center at 342 VoTech Rd., Eolia, Mo. from 5:30 – 9:30 p.m. Students must attend both nights. Classes are free.   • A “cool” time at Main Street Elementary

      Main Street Elementary took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge on August 25 as Mrs. Shinn, principal, and Mr. Clark, assistant principal, had Aiden Knorr, 7, Mya Horner, 7, and Lane Hamlett, 10 assist them in dumping the buckets of ice water over their heads.   • Silex FFA kicks off the school year

    The Silex FFA Chapter had a great outcome at the “Kick-Off the School Year” Kickball game and meeting. The members and officers participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.   • Good news for R-III budget, students’ accomplishments celebrated

    The Lincoln County R-III School District shared good budgetary news at its August 19 school board meeting. The board received updated information from the Lincoln County Clerk’s office regarding district assessed valuation for the 2014-15 school year. Superintendent Mark Penny said he was ‘excited’ by the new assessed valuation number of $430 million in Lincoln County.   • R-III Foundation awards grants totaling $77,916

These people are either grant recipients or members of the Education Foundation.

    In their second year of providing grants, the Lincoln County R-III Education Foundation awarded nine grants in the amount of $77,916.88 The presentation occurred at the district wide staff meeting held Aug. 11 at Troy Buchanan High School gym. Lauren Fast and Robb Krieg presented the grants on behalf of the foundation. Teachers had to submit applications and go through a review process. The foundation had more applications to consider
