Trojan Pride Marching Band performs well in CMU Band Day events

Music floated down the hill, and the march of drums led into the annual Band Day at Central Methodist University on Saturday.     For more than a decade, Delta Dental’s “Land of Smiles” program has been touring schools and fighting childhood dental disease with the help of its legendary character, Tooth Wizard. This fall, Delta Dental is bringing a new adaptation of the “Land of Smiles” show to schools featuring Tooth Wizard’s sister, Tooth Fairy. Together, these characters use upbeat and interactive means to educate and inspire children to adopt healthy life habits.

    On October 19, 2014, the Troy Buchanan High School (TBHS) and the Ninth Grade Center (NGC) KEY Club members will be visiting homes in the city of Troy for their annual Trick-Or-Treat for UNICEF. The Clubs have been participating in this event for many years. Members will be in costumes and knocking on doors asking for cash donations to support UNICEF’s causes. Soil health/cover crop workshop

The Lincoln County Soil & Water Conservation District along with the USDA-NRCS Elsberry Plant Materials Center will host a soil health/cover crop workshop on Nov. 6, 2 p.m. The workshop will begin with a tour of cover crop demonstration plots at the Elsberry Plant Materials Center.   • Salvation Army “Coats for the Cold”

    The Salvation Army has begun its annual “Coats for the Cold” campaign. Bright red barrels have been placed at various locations around Lincoln County in which to place your gently used sweaters, jackets and coats that are no longer of use to you. Donated items may be placed from now until Nov. 1 with distribution to take place on Nov. 22 at Harvester Christian Church on Front St. in Troy
