The Britton House Board of Governors of the Lincoln County Historical Society will present its Sixteenth Annual Roast.
A musical extravaganza of fun and frivolity will honor the over 30 years as a music educator and First Christian Church pianist of Cathy Whitworth. The event will be presented by former students, friends and family of Cathy’s and will be held at the Woods Fort Country Club on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013. Social hour begins at 6 p.m. with the dinner at 7 p.m. The roast will follow the dinner. The evening will recognize the substantial contributions made to the community by Cathy. The format of the event will be light-hearted and fun.
All proceeds of the roast will be used for the restoration and upkeep of Britton House. One of the longest-standing residences in Lincoln Count y, Britton House is located on the corner of Boone and Main streets in Troy. In 1996, Mrs. John (Lorene) Creech made possible the purchase of the home by the Lincoln County Historical Society. The preservation and operation of the property is maintained by the nine members of the Britton House Board of Governors in loving memory of Mrs. Creech. The 2013 corporate sponsor is Peoples Bank and Trust Company.
