Brown’s walkoff homer, seven RBIs leads Silex

The Silex Lady Owls won two of three recent games.

They posted a 3-2 win over Van Far. In the game, offensive highlights included Rachel Lipsey (2/4,  run scored);  Ashley Brown (1/ 3, walk off two- run homerun); Madi Henke (1/3, run scored); Michele Norton (1/3); Rachelle Horne (1/2, double) and Nikki Hawkins (RBI double).

Melanie Miller got the win. She had four strikeouts in the game.

Van Far scored two runs in the top of the second. Silex came back with one run in the bottom of the second Henke led off with a single, followed by a Norton single. Hawkins came up with two outs and hit a double to score Henke. “We had runners in scoring position in the fourth and sixth  but couldn’t get a run across,” said Coach Rebecca Lipsey.

In the bottom of the seventh,  Lipsey led off with a infield single and Brown hit her walk-off home run, capping an exciting rally.

In their next game, they posted a 17-2 win over Community.

Offensive leaders included: Brittany Howard (1/1, 2 walks and three runs scored); Rachel Lipsey (3/3 RBI double and three runs scored); Ashley Brown (3/3, 2 doubles and 7 RBIs); Leah Miller (1/3, RBI triple); Henke (1/3, RBI); Norton (HBP twice scored twice); Rachelle Horne (RBI double); Nikki Hawkins (2/3, RBI double); Tessa Gruenloh (3 runs scored); Elly Boothe (3 runs scored) and Taylar Jett (1/1, RBI).

Melanie Miller got the win.

They lost 4-3 to Clopton.Offensive leaders included: Brittany Howard (2/4, run scored); Rachel Lipsey (1/3); Ashley Brown (2/4, double); Henke (RBI);  Norton (1/2, double, run scored); Horne (2/3, RBI double)and  Elly Boothe (run scored)

Melanie Miller was charged with the loss.
