Burglary investigation leads to additional charges for sex offender

A convicted sex offender in Troy is facing new charges for failing to register several social media accounts and a change in his employment with authorities.
Due to his conviction in 1992 of sexually abusing a nine-year-old male, David Lee Daniels, 43, of the first block of Cave Farm Road in Troy, is required to disclose changes in his employment status as well as any online accounts he maintains.
As a result of a recent burglary investigation in which Daniels was the main suspect, authorities discovered that Daniels was working at his brothers’ company, J&P Asphalt/Seal Coating in the Wright City area. They also found that Daniels was keepng a Facebook, Instagram and e-mail account, none of which were registered with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
According to court documents, Daniels has several other felony convictions on his record, including failure to register as a sex offender and unlawful use of a weapon.
When authorities attempted to speak with Daniels at his job site in Wright City, Daniels fled the area on foot. He was eventually located, and is currently out on bond for his role in the burglary.
