Catch the buzz: beekeepers to unite

Posted on Monday, May 6, 2013 at 8:30 am

The first meeting of the Quad County Beekeepers will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 7 p.m. The location will be the Missouri Extension Office 880 West College, Troy. This meeting is being held to determine the overall number of old beekeepers, new beekeepers, prospective beekeepers, and those inquisitive about honey, wax, pollen, pollination, bee therapy, and a host of other honey bee related subjects.

The goal is to form a club, Quad County Beekeepers, where they will discuss these topics and ultimately encourage sustainable beekeeping practices. They hope to host beginning and advanced beekeeping classes relevant to the current season throughout the year.

If you want to know more, call Fred Meder at 573-760-2574. Or better yet, take a beeline to 880 West College, Troy, at 7 p.m. on Tuesday May 7, 2013, and talk to Fred and other honey bee enthusiasts.
