Steven Hunter

Steven Lee Hunter, 60, of Truxton, was born into eternity Friday, May 9, 2014, at their family farm near Truxton. He was born on this earth on Oct. 3, 1953, in Alton, Ill., the son of the late Sam and Harriet (Weststine) Hunter. He was united in marriage to Bobbi Jo Stinson, on Aug. 8, 1981. To this marriage two sons and one daughter were born.

Mr. Hunter received his Masters in Health Care Administration and in his earlier years he taught college classes at Webster University. He was CEO for several health care providers.  Mr. Hunter was the president and owner of Assisted Care at Home in Scottsdale, Ariz. He was one of the vital developers of the Oklahoma City 10 year strategic plan for the inner city. Hunter enjoyed maintaining the lawn at the family farm in Truxton, traveling to various places, boating and lifting weights, which he received his nickname as “Hog Man.”

He is survived by his one daughter, Victoria Elizabeth Hunter and her fiancé, Jason Nash of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two sons, Ryan Hunter and wife, Tonya of Hazelwood and Jeff Hunter and wife, Shana of Choctaw, Okla.; two grandchildren, Dylan Hunter and Hudson Hunter; his brothers, Kevin Hunter and his wife, Tija of Wood River, Ill. and Mike Hunter and wife, Leesa of East Alton, Ill.;  his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joe Robert and Wanda Lee Stinson, of Hazelwood and his sister-in-law, Regina Harrell and her husband, Leonard, of Houston, Texas.

A Celebration of His Life will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, May 12, 2014, at the family farm, located at 596 Truxton Church Road, Truxton.

In lieu of contributions or flowers, Steven would like for you to send flowers to someone you love in memory of him.

Grace Sieber

Grace Sieber

Grace Sieber, 81, of Winfield, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Barnes/Jewish Hospital in St. Peters.

She was born on Sept. 25, 1932, in St. Louis to Vincent and Mary (Ruffino) Palazzolo.

Grace was raised as an only child as her brother died in infancy. She met her future husband, Melvin Sieber, while he was serving in the U.S. Army. Shortly after, on Feb. 24, 1952, the couple was joined in holy matrimony. To this union were born five children: Mary Lee, Christine, Patricia, Vincent and John. During many of these years, Grace owned and operated the Bel-Acre Beauty Shop in Bel-Ridge.

She was an energetic person who sewed most of her girls’ clothing and even sewed her oldest daughter, Mary Lee’s wedding dress. In 1973, the family moved to Winfield and soon after, Grace began working as a parish administrator for the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Troy. She served the parish for 20+ years. Grace was a devoted member of the church and was a member of the St. Ann Sodality, taught PSR and helped with bereavement meals, etc. She even got to see Elvis’ Graceland.

She is survived by her loving children and their spouses: Mary Lee and Charles Trnka, of Kansas City, Christine and Michael Leffeler, of Old Monroe, Patricia and James Vance of St. Charles, Vincent and Dorothy Sieber, of St. Peters and John and Julie Sieber, of O’Fallon; sister-in-law: Joyce Kettenbrink of Hazelwood; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held on Friday, May 9, 2014, from 4 until 8 p.m., at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 1304 Boone St. Troy. A funeral mass was held on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at 10 a.m., at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Troy. Father Tom Wissler and Father Don Schramm  officiated. Interment  followed in Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis.

Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or donor’s choice, c/o McCoy-Blossom Funeral Home & Cremation Ctr, Troy location.

A Memorial Open House for Donald Ray Walker, Sr., 74, of Winfield was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the home of Kathleen Bromwich.

Mr. Walker passed away Saturday evening, May 3, 2014 at the Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry.

Born Aug. 13, 1939, in Holcomb, he was the son of Leonard and Eula Huddleston Walker.  He was united in marriage on April 27, 1957 in St. Louis to Anna Jean Brown.  This union was blessed with four children: Sharon, Kathleen, Patricia and Donald, Jr.

He was the owner and machinist at Specialty Fab, retiring in 2011.  He was a member of the Jennings, Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years, Anna Walker of Winfield; two daughters: Sharon Payne and her husband, Jim, of St. Louis, MO and Kathleen Bromwich and her husband, Allen, also of Winfield; one son, Donald R. Walker, Jr. and his wife, Laura, of Winfield; ten grandchildren: Cassandra, Patrick, Amanda, Kathryn, Melissa, Rebecca, Luke, Michael, Christopher and Leigh; and fourteen great-grandchildren.  He also leaves one son-in-law, Kevin Nunn of Wentzville, MO; other relatives and many friends.

Margaret Ann Watts Herring, former editor of the Elsberry Democrat, passed away at 9:30 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2014, at the Elsberry Health Care Center. There will be no visitation or funeral services.
