A couple from Laddonia were killed in an automobile accident which occurred Sunday in Pike County, according to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The accident occurred on Route 54 at Route U.
According to the report, a 2010 Volvo tractor driven by Ibrahim Bourakba, 32, of Baton Rouge, La., attempted to avoid a collision with an unknown vehicle. The Volvo traveled across the centerline into the westbound lanes of Rt. 54. William Stafford, 67, of Laddionia, driving a 1998 Ford Explorer, attempted to avoid collision, traveled off the right side of the roadway. The front of the Volvo tractor struck the left front of the Explorer.
Stafford and his passenger, Nancy Stafford, were pronounced at the scene by Pike County Coroner Jim Turner. Bourakba was flown by Air Evac LifeTeam to Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur. His injuries were listed as moderate. All were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
Two accidents Jan. 8 in St. Charles County resulted in injuries to county residents.
The first occurred at 9:43 a.m. on Route F just west of St. Charles Street. According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2010 Freightliner Business Class M2 was parked. Calvin Stacker, 64, of Defiance, was driving a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 when he failed to observe the parked vehicle and struck a pedestrian: Nicholas Taylor, 32, of Moscow Mills who was outside of the parked vehicle.
Both men were taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur. Taylor’s injuries were listed as serious and Stacker had moderate injuries. Stacker was not wearing a seat belt.
Three county residents were injured in a one-car crash on eastbound I-64 west of Hwy. 94 at 6:58 p.m. A 1994 Plymouth Sundance driven by Jordan Sanders, 18, of Hawk Point, traveled through barrier cables, crossed the eastbound traffic, went off the southside of the roadway and struck a guardrail.
Sanders sustained moderate injuries. Two passengers were also injured including Jenna Roof, 17, of Troy, (moderate) and Gregory Sanders, 51, of Troy (serious). All were taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur. Roof was using a seat belt.
