Credence Campus sets first service in October

Posted on Monday, September 23, 2013 at 2:00 pm

On Oct. 6,  Peine Ridge Church will be starting a new worship experience in Troy.

“We’re calling this the Credence Campus,” said  Pastor Jason Zellmer, one of three ministers who pastor at Peine Ridge Church in Wentzville, the sponsoring church.  However, over time, the goal is for the Credence Campus to become Credence Church, a fully autonomous congregation proclaiming the gospel in Lincoln County.

Peine Ridge began almost four years ago and is located in the former Lutheran Church on Pearce Blvd. Zellmer also has participated in the planting of other churches in St. Charles County. Approximately 270 people attend services at Peine Ridge.

Peine Ridge recently purchased the former St. Stephen United Methodist Church Building on Boone Street in Troy. It most recently housed Ingersoll Chapel. Zellmer said initial renovation phase will include a new sound system, remodeled foyer and new restrooms. Also audio will be fed into the Avery Family Room where families may listen with their young children.

Zellmer and Pastors Jason Myers and Nathan Smith will serve Credence in Troy on a rotating basis. Zellmer is the son of Pastor John Zellmer who is serving the New Hope Baptist Church near Elsberry.

“The word credence simply means supporting the truthfulness of something,” said Zellmer.  “That’s what this new gathering is all about. We support the truthfulness of the Bible.  We believe that God’s Word is true, and it will be our mission to proclaim these truths with clarity and conviction so that the people of Troy and all of Lincoln County can know more about God and His infinite, unstoppable love.  Like every church, we won’t do this perfectly.  We will have our faults and our failures.  If you’re looking for a perfect church, this won’t be for you.  However, if you are interested in joining with an imperfect group of people who are desperately seeking to give credence to the truth of God’s Word, or if you’re new to studying the Bible and want to learn more, then this church is for you!

He added that Credence will begin a 12 week study through the book of Genesis.  “It’s an appropriate place for us to begin our journey as we seek to learn about God, man, sin, and the story of salvation.”

The first service will begin at 10 a.m. Childcare will be provided for children ages 0-5.

Peine Ridge Church believes church planting is the most effective means to reach any and every city with the gospel.    “We have over 50 people living in the Lincoln County area, so rather than starting a new service we have chosen to start a new campus in a new community” he said.

The new worship space in Troy will seat 350 people.
