The Lincoln County Commission has named its new emergency management director.
Jerry Daugherty, who last November lost his bid for re-election to the St. Charles County Council, is Lincoln County’s newly-hired emergency management director.
Daugherty, who began work this week, replaces Kelly Hardcastle, who resigned.
He had been a councilman four years after serving previously as a Portage des Sioux alderman.
Daugherty said he will earn about $40,000 a year in his new Lincoln County position. He will continue as the voluntary emergency director in Portage des Sioux, where he still lives. He’s held that post 20 years.
“We feel we are fortunate to have Jerry’s experience to serve our residents,” said Dan Colbert, Presiding Commissioner. “Jerry has lived in an area where flooding has been an issue and he understands those related issues. We put him to work immediately going into the Winfield and Foley areas last week where there was moderate to major flooding. No levees were breeched fortunately which would have compounded the problems.”
Last week, Daugherty and Colbert attended an emergency management meeting in Springfield.
