While on routine patrol along Highway B, in northeast Lincoln County, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Ryan Parker, above, observed a bunch of kids around a massive homemade slip and slide constructed on a steep hill. Never missing a chance to stop and talk with Lincoln County youth, Deputy Parker parked his patrol vehicle and cheered the kids on as they slipped down the embankment. It was not long before the kids talked Deputy Parker into going down the slide himself.
“It looked fun and it was hot out so I decided to take them up on their offer,” said Parker. Parker removed his duty belt, radio and took off his shoes and headed down with the kids. “The first time I went down my uniform was dry, making it difficult to slide but the second time was a BLAST,” said Parker. After a few turns down the slide Deputy Parker allowed the kids to sit in his car and activate the lights and sirens.
