The effort by Moscow Mills officials to attract a major recreational complex for the Route U/Crossroads area off Highway 61 was not successful.
After the proposed deal between project developers and Chesterfield city officials did not materialized, the searach for a different site began. The city of Moscow Mills reached out with information abut the Crossroads property, but were notified they were not selected.
“I just received word that we were not selected as one of the four finalists for the POWERPlex Sports Complex,” said Mayor Mike Clynch. “While I am disappointed, I do not think we should be deterred in finding economic development opportunities for our community. There are a few lessons we can learn from this process: we can be better-prepared the next time such an opportunity comes our way.
“Moscow Mills will be the community of choice for people in the future! Now, let’s get Dollar General built and open the new pharmacy.”
