Funeral services for Dorothy Wenona Bacon, 87, of Winfield, were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Winfield.  Rev. Mike Ryan, church pastor, officiated with burial in New Salem Cemetery near Winfield.  .

Mrs. Bacon, 87, passed away Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at Troy Manor in Troy.

Born Nov. 28, 1924 in Winfield, she was the daughter of Orval and Mollie Ethlyn Simpson Argent.  She graduated from Winfield High School.  She was united in marriage on Sept. 8, 1946, in Winfield to Devoid Leroy Bacon.  This union was blessed with two children: Dennis Leroy and Diane.

She was a housewife.  Mrs. Bacon was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winfield.

Survivors include one son, Dennis Bacon, of Winfield; one daughter, Diane Harrison and her husband, James E., also of Winfield; one grandson, Chad Alan Rivers and his wife, LaDonna; and one great-grandchild, Dakota Lynn Alan Rivers.  She also leaves one sister, Barbara D. Page and her husband, Lee, of Harrisonville; other relatives and many friends.

Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
