Mrs. Eileen Locklin, 84, of Troy, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at Lincoln County Nursing & Rehab in Troy.
She was born on Nov. 23, 1928, in Snow Hill to William and Elsie Lee (Barnes) Harding. Eileen was the second oldest of 14 children. With many siblings, you learn to share and to think of others and this is the case with Eileen. She always was responsible for some of her brothers and sisters. Eileen carried this wonderful trait into her adult life. She was a “true servant” to others for her entire life. On Sept. 27, 1946, she married her soulmate, William Locklin. To this union were born five children: Paul, Wanda, Londa, Mary and Gary. Eileen was an excellent seamstress who made many of her children’s clothing. She also made many wedding dresses and bridesmaids dresses. Eileen was a very good cook and her children fondly remember her spaghetti and fried chicken dinners. Babysitting for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the neighbor’s children was what Eileen liked to do, always taking care of others. In earlier years, she had attended the Briscoe Holiness Church and when she moved to Troy attended the Troy Holiness Church.
Surviving are her beloved husband, William T. Locklin of over 66 years of marriage; her four children: Paul Locklin of Eolia, Wanda Barnes of Troy, Mary David of Mexico, Gary and wife Cathy Locklin of Troy; her son-in-law: Vernon Rockwell of Troy; her four sisters: Opal and husband Danny Dyer, Velma and husband Jim Calvin, Ann and husband Doyle Gordon and Edna and husband Walter Nickelson; her sister-in-laws: Betty Harding and Mable Harding; her brother-in-laws: Delmar Gordon, Gene Robinson and Everett Gordon; 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great,great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
