The Elks Mobile Dental Unit is now in its 52 year of providing dental services to deserving residents of Missouri. The unit is scheduled to visit Troy from Monday February 2 to Thursday March 6 and will be located at the Lincoln County R-III School District Superintendent’s Office 951 W. College St. Troy.
The Dental Department of Truman Medical Center Lakewood, of Kansas City, has operated the Elks Mobile unit since 1962, in partnership with the Missouri Elks Benevolent Association.
The purpose of the program is to bring primary care dental services to mentally retarded/developmentally disabled children and adults throughout the State of Missouri. Over 100,000 residents have been served since 1962.
This special unit is a self-propelled bus-like vehicle equipped to provide a full range of dental services, such as X-rays, fillings, extractions, cleaning and other treatments. All services are provided at no cost to eligible patients. A thoroughly trained dentist and dental assistant staff the unit.
Individuals may be eligible for free dental care while the unit is in Troy and live in the counties of Lincoln, Montgomery, Pike, St. Charles and Warren.
