On May 9 the Elsberry Indians celebrated Senior Night with a 10-0 win over Mark Twain in baseball.

Senior Brandon Mound was the starting pitcher for Elsberry that night.

“He only gave up two hits and maybe one walk,” said Coach Dustin Robinson. “The rest of the time he managed to keep Mark Twain’s hitters off balance.”

Senior Caleb Vitro contributed three RBIs to the win.

The win brought the Indian’s record to 10-10 overall.

The Elsberry Lady Indians Soccer Team closed out the regular season with games against Lutheran St. Charles and Hannibal.

Lutheran managed to get ahead in that game by a score of 10-0 and the contest was ended due to the mercy rule.

The game against Hannibal on May 12 was played without Tanner Bencomo and Passion Hunter-Edwards, who were unavailable due to other school activities. They lost 5-0 as the game ended early due to lightning.

Bencomo said that even though the game ended early, Hannibal gave his team the kind of tough competition that they can benefit from heading into districts.

Members of the Elsberry R-II High School Golf Team competed in Sectionals at Deer Chase Golf Course in Linn Creek on May 19.

“Wayne Holland, Gavin Hill and Alex Kinsler all qualified to go to the sectional tournament,” said Head Coach Ryan Parker. “You need four golfers to compete as a team so all three guys had to compete on an individual basis.”

Hill achieved an individual score of 82, which qualified him for the state meet on May 19-20.
