The Elsberry Lady Indians softball team finished out their regular season on Monday evening and look forward to district play that will be hosted right here in Elsberry.
The team finished with an overall record of 10-12 and 6-4 in the conference. Monday the team fell hard to the Winfield Warriors by a score of 19-4. Last week the Lady Indians had two impressive victories over the Montgomery County Wildcats and the Silex Owls.
In last Thursday victory over Silex 5-1, Elsberry was led by freshmen Tyra Henderson.
The Lady Indians jumped on top early scoring three runs in the bottom of the first, and adding two more in the third, never looking back.
Silex scored their lone run in the top of the first inning. Henderson finished the game with three hits and two RBI’s to lead the team on the offensive side.
Senior Sydney Pickard went seven innings on the mound striking out 11 batters.
In the game against Montgomery County Elsberry coaches put a new face on the mound for the contest.
Junior Kara Lovelace had an impressive outing giving up only seven hits, no walks and striking out four.
The Lady Indians came out in a hitting mood tallying up twelve hits. Henderson and Tess Weakly were in charge for the team as they each had two hits. Lovelace helped her own cause as she chalked up three RBI’s.
