Sacred Heart School in Troy has reached several milestones with the new 2013-2014 school year.

Total enrollment in the school has increased five percent, from 270 to 293. The preschool, now in its second year, is at full enrollment for the 4 – 5-year-old program, and has 85 percent enrollment in the 3 – to 4-year-old program. Combined, the two programs have added 57 students to the school’s population.

All students are enjoying their second year in the $3 million expansion, which added a gym, preschool center and new classes for kindergarten through second grades. In addition, new playgrounds were just installed for both the preschool and elementary school.

Since 1944, Sacred Heart School has been the “Heart and Soul of Lincoln County.” The Catholic school provides fundamental Christian values in a challenging academic environment. Certified teachers use state-of-the-art technology to teach and utilize best practices. They incorporate accelerated reading, 6-trait writing and differentiated learning into the curriculum. A computer lab, science lab and large library promote hands-on learning.

Sacred Heart School prides itself on small class sizes and a low student/teacher ratio. As a result, administrators, teachers and staff get to know the students on a personal level and are able to establish a sense of belonging and accountability among students and provide a safe environment.
