Randolph Scott James, 32, of Troy was charged on Friday, November 30 with first-degree involuntary manslaughter, three counts of second-degree assault/operating a vehicle while intoxicated, and one count of operating a vehicle carelessly and imprudently. These charges came about after a traffic accident that occurred on November 21 on Hwy. 47 west of Lindsey Rd. at 5:40 a.m. James crossed the centerline and caused a head-on collision with the Simpson family.
Angela Simpson suffered moderate injuries. Passengers with Simpson were Dana Simpson, 8, moderate injuries; David D. Simpson, 32, moderate injuries; and David W. Simpson, 9, serious injuries and later passed away at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital.
James also suffered moderate injuries.
James is currently being held at Lincoln County Jail with a $50,000 cash only bond on his charges.
James has multiple charges against him for intoxicated driving previous to this case.
All persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.
