March 28, 1958
Hunter Beckman, Troy Buchanan senior, was the top voter-getter on this year’s Northeast Missoui all-district squad.
He averaged nearly 30 points per game for the Trojans while setting several new records.
Also named to the all-district team was Cecil Hupper from Clopton.

Katherine Broz, of Hawk Point, is a member of the make-up committee for a student play at Texas Women’s University.

A new non -profit community service, The Friendly Shop, will open April 11, upstairs at 465 Main Street in Troy.
The shop will stock and sell at modest prices, good, used clothing.
Chairman of the project is Mrs. L.P. Hetlage. The idea for the shop came through a women’s Bible Study. Many area churches are participants and supporting this effort.

Mike Whalen, of Troy, placed sixth in a collegiate cross country meet held at Culver-Stockton, where he is a student.

Sgt. Floyd Howdeshell, of Lincoln County, is serving with the Third Battalion in Vietnam.

Mike Cody and Brenda Martin were selected as the Lincoln County 4-H King and Queen.

With anticipation of future growth, a new addition has been proposed for Buchanan High School. The addition will house a new gymnasium and cafeteria, and classrooms among other improvements. It will be built on the northwest side of the current building.

The proposed merger of Citizens Bank of Troy and Peoples Bank of Hawk Point, has been approved by the commissioner of finance in Missouri, making the merger possible this summer.

Darryl Mordt has been elected president of the Troy and Rural Fire Department.

The newly remodeled Hawk Point Lions Den was dedicated.

Silex athletes named to the first-team in basketball in the Great Overlands Conference were Adam Twelllman on the boys team, Leslie Peasel and Courtney Haines on the girls team.
