March 14, 1958
Oscar Bradley, of the firm Bradley and Bradley, died Mach 7 after suffering a cerebral hemorrage.
Although a licensed attorney, he owned and operated hardware stores until 1946 when he and his son sold their business to Kenneth LaRue. He retained the Skelgas, furnace, roofing and shett metal business where he continued to work until recent weeks, He was 85 years old.

What night had been a serious fire Saturday evening was averted when two employees of the Princess refused to go home until the origin of the smoke they smelled could be located.
Mrs. Harry Achor and Mrs. Milton Beckman kept smelling smoke at closing time. After a thorough search of their business, they discovered a fire in the adjoining hardware store owned by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Singleton. They notified the fire department. That store sustained very little damage.

The FCC announced today the assignment of the call letters KIRL for the new radio station assigned to St. Charles.

Cathy Bromwich, of Winfield, has been promoted to to A1-C at Carswell Air Force Base in Texas. She is a medic at the hospital there.

Donna Creech received the Good Citizen Award from the Troy DAR chapter.

Friedens United Church of Chrsit will hold groundbreaking ceremonies for a new fellowship Hall on March 19.

The Troy community was saddened when hearing of the death of J.D. Holloway, age 5, of Troy. He passed away after receiving a bone marrow transplant .
