Gov. Jay Nixon on Tuesday appointed Patrick S. Flynn as Associate Circuit Judge for Lincoln County. He will replace the Honorable Ben Burkemper, who resigned from the bench to join the Missouri Attorney General’s Office.
Flynn is a former Associate Circuit Judge for Lincoln County who was elected to serve on the bench from 1991 to 2002 before he went into private practice. While in private practice, he also has served as the municipal and prosecuting attorney for several area communities. Flynn also has served on the Lincoln County Domestic Violence Board since 1996, and was an adjunct professor of criminal justice at Lindenwood University from 2006 to 2011. He obtained his law degree from Saint Louis University and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri.
“Pat Flynn ably served the people of Lincoln County on the bench for 12 years, and I know he will ably serve them again as an associate circuit judge,” Gov. Nixon said. “I am pleased he will bring his experience back to the bench.”
Flynn will be returning to public service after a decade in private practice.
“I’m am honored by Gov. Nixon’s confidence in me with this appointment.,” said Flynn. “During recent events, I have had a time to reflect on what has made me the happiest in my professional life and that was in public service.”
Flynn will be sworn into office later this month and will fill the term which expires in November 2014.
