In a letter to Troy Mayor Mark Cross, and Board of Alderman, Gerard Hagedorn, Ward III alderman resigned his office
“When, I got elected in 2010 my life felt simple, and easy to manage,” he wrote. “However in the last few months it has become overwhelming, and has put a struggle on my home life.
“I have decided that I can not commit to my constituents of the City, and my family at the same time, as well as succeed at work. I had to choose what was most important to me, my family was first, work is second, and politics was the one I could give up. So I regret that I am stepping down as alderman, effective 10/1/2012.”
Mayor Cross said he will appoint someone (with the aldermen’s approval) to fill the unexpired term. This person will serve until April 2013 which is the next election. Mayor Cross said he welcomes input from the Ward III residents and they may contact him at Troy City Hall.
