Eight time NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Harley Race, has brought the Harley Race Wrestling Academy and World League Wrestling to Troy. Harley, along with his wife Rose and son Leland, welcomed visitors to their new location at 198 Cherry Blossom Way, Troy on January 18. Those in attendance were able to meet with World League Wrestlers, view the facility, including their two rings and even talk with the legend, Harley Race. The Harley Race Wrestling Academy is open to those wishing to pursue a career in professional wrestling and is one of the few schools to provide continuous training. Many students from Harley’s academy have gone on to wrestle for WLW as well as land tryouts for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), Impact Wrestling (TNA), and Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan.
Harley is excited about the move to Troy saying, “I’ve liked Troy for a lot of years. When looking for a place to move Troy kept coming back to me. I eventually decided why fight it just do it.” Harley is also excited about the opportunity for students to work while attending the academy Troy will provide.
Starting this year the WLW plans to host an events in Troy. The WLW works with local business and non-profits on ways to give back to the community. Harley feels it is very important to give back because he has received so much from communities he has lived in.
